Start Your EQ Certification Journey
You can start your EQ Trainer Certification with a 2-day program covering the essentials of Mastering EQ Level 1, by first experiencing the program as a learner on day 1, and then learning how to facilitate it on day 2. Alternately, you can dive all the way into emotional intelligence training with a 4-day deep skill-building package that combines Mastering EQ Level 1 (2 days) and Level 2 (2 days).
If your focus is team development, Mastering EQ for Teams is a 1-day program focused on developing emotionally intelligent teams to improve team effectiveness, cross-functional collaboration, decision-making, and productivity.

Emotional intelligence (EQ) is the foundational skill that we all need to perform at our best. People with high emotional intelligence communicate more effectively, build stronger relationships, manage stress and conflict better, are more productive team members, and perform at a higher level.
Mastering EQ Level 1 is the foundational EQ training course, providing participants with an understanding of what EQ is, why it matters, the four core EQ skills, and how to enhance their EQ skills with practical, proven strategies for immediate impact. This EQ training program leverages results from the Emotional Intelligence Appraisal and allows participants to develop personalized EQ development plans to help them enhance their EQ skills to drive real results for your organization.
In this two-day EQ certification program, virtually or in-person, you will learn how to facilitate our core Mastering EQ training program and become the EQ expert for your organization. You will receive eight hours of curriculum and learn about multiple options to deliver the program in person or virtually, in a 1-day or accelerated ½-day format, and more.

Experience Mastering EQ – Level 1 as a participant.
- Discover emotional intelligence—what it is, the biological basis for EQ, and the four core EQ skills model.

Learn to facilitate the program and plan your rollout.

- Practice delivering a portion of the training session through teach backs and receive feedback from a Master Certified TalentSmartEQ trainer.

Mastering EQ Level 2
Mastering EQ Level 2
As a learning and development professional, you know that developing new skills in others requires several touch points over time where past knowledge is built upon, new connections are created, and real-life practice opportunities are made available. Mastering EQ Level 2 was created to follow Mastering EQ Level 1 with this very goal in mind.
Mastering EQ Level 2 takes EQ skills to a more advanced level through focused practice of four cornerstone strategies that impact each of the four core EQ skills – self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationships management. Participants learn how to identify emotional triggers, re-frame negative self-talk, practice stepping into others’ shoes to build empathy, and manage their emotions during difficult conversations and conflicts.
Through the latest in adult learning techniques, participants will engage in meaningful conversations, self-reflection, and skill practice to build more effective approaches to managing their emotions when under pressure and dealing with others.
Over two days, you will learn how to deliver the EQ training program and best practices to facilitate skill development and create engaging learning experiences. You will receive eight hours of advanced curriculum and learn options to deliver the program in a format that meets your organization’s needs and goals.

- Self-Awareness. Learn how to lean into discomfort, why this matters, and how this will lead to more effective stress management, collaboration, decision-making, and more.
- Self-Management. Discover the impact of your self-talk on your behavior, and results at work and in life, and practice using a self-management tool for enhancing your skills, productivity, and results.
- My Current EQ. Debrief the Emotional Intelligence Appraisal-Multi-Rater edition for insights into how others experience you compared to how you see yourself. Identify your strengths and areas of opportunity rooted in your current emotional intelligence data.
- Social Awareness. Practice applying an EQ tool for stepping into other’s shoes and building empathy.
- Relationship Management. Understand the core elements of a conflict and apply relationship management techniques in small groups to enhance your conflict management skills. Apply insights to help restore a relationship at work or in life.

EQ in Action
EQ in Action, our newest emotional intelligence solution, is a collection of programs that enables learners to develop advanced emotional intelligence skills to address critical challenges faced in any organization. Challenges, such as providing feedback, managing change, and navigating difficult conversations, are part of daily work life and developing the emotional intelligence skills to handle these challenges effectively is important at all levels of your organization. By earning EQ certification through our EQ in Action programs, trainers are equipped to lead EQ training programs that drive resilience, emotional regulation, and improved communication across teams.

Yes! We provide our trainers with ongoing resources including supplementary videos and training materials, and they also have the option to attend a complimentary refresher workshop.
Upon certification, trainers gain access to resources including program slide decks, agendas, scripts, leader briefs, movie clips, supplementary videos, and comprehensive training materials through our Certified Trainer Resources (CTR) portal.
TalentSmartEQ does not impose any annual recertification requirements. Once you have obtained certification with us, your certification remains valid indefinitely.
TalentSmartEQ assessments do not require any certifications for use. Our assessments and reports have been designed to be straightforward to interpret and implement. We also offer supplementary resources to support users in effectively utilizing our assessments.
If you transition to a new organization, your certification goes with you. Simply inform us about your new organization, and we’ll ensure you’re set up for success in your new role.
As a certified trainer with TalentSmartEQ, you are responsible for purchasing participant materials for everyone attending your sessions. These participant materials are the only costs incurred after certification.
