Developing EQ
in Policing

The Warren Police Department partnered with TalentSmartEQ to bring emotional intelligence (EQ) training to every officer in the department—strengthening self-awareness, communication, and performance in high-pressure situations.

After seeing measurable gains in problem-solving, stress management, and adaptability, Warren PD and TalentSmartEQ are now offering this same powerful EQ training to law enforcement professionals across Michigan and surrounding communities.

The course is taught by active Police Officers, for active Police Officers—making every lesson relevant, practical, and grounded in real-world experience.

 Real-World Impact in Warren, MI

Captain Brent Chisolm shares how integrating EQ into officer training has helped transform Warren PD’s culture and elevate officer performance and well-being.

Something is happening in that moment—that critical second—where things go bad. We needed a way to bridge that disconnect so that what officers know in theory is what they can actually do in practice, especially under stress. That bridge was emotional intelligence.”

— Captain Brent Chisolm, Administrative Services Bureau
